Jan Shaffer Retirement

Jan Shaffer

Jan Shaffer retired from Carlson Veit Junge Architects in March 2022, after 23 years with the firm. As the Office Manager, Jan played many important roles – she made up the entirety of the accounting and HR departments, was frequently the receptionist and shipping/receiving coordinator, the office’s Earthwise Coordinator, and most importantly, the office mom. It’s not an overstatement to say that she contributed daily to the success of the company, and her presence is greatly missed.

She grew up in Central Oregon and the high desert is still home in her heart. Prior to joining the company, she earned her Associate’s Degree in Office Administration from Chemeketa Community College, and served as a Communication Center Specialist in the U.S. Army, which included work at the Army Operations Communication Center at the Pentagon. While kind-hearted and extremely friendly, she sometimes had to revert to her no-nonsense Army training in dealing with the principals to keep things on track.

In retirement, Jan plans to spend more time reading, gardening, cooking, hiking, traveling with her husband, taking classes in arts and crafts, volunteering, and spending time with her family and two wonderful grandchildren. Congratulations Jan!
